How I approach engineering.
I think about engineering the way I'd want a system I depend on to be built: correct under pressure, honest about its failure modes, and legible to whoever has to operate it after I've moved on.
Correctness comes before cleverness — a clever solution that's wrong under load is worse than a plain one that holds up. Failure paths are part of the architecture, not an afterthought bolted on after an incident. And in financial systems specifically, state should never depend on assumptions: payment status is a fact derived from a webhook or a ledger entry, never an inference from "the request didn't error."
Infrastructure decisions are product decisions. A deployment pipeline or a caching layer shapes what a product can promise its users just as much as a feature does, and I treat it with the same weight. The same applies to AI systems now entering production workflows — they need evaluation, observability, and failure handling like any other dependency, not an exemption because the failure mode is less familiar.
